Happy Birthday to the World Wide Web, Where Would Event Promotion Be Without You

Today the World Wide Web turns 25 and it’s likely many event promoters barely remember life before the internet boomed.

Without a doubt the world wide web has changed the way event promotion happens in the UK, it’s gone from a largely broadcast marketing activity to a much more targeted, narrowcast activity which is often back up by one or two of the more traditional promotion options.

The traditional options still exist, however you’d be hard pushed to find a promoter solely relying on posters, flyers, billboards, newspapers, magazines, radio, tv and DMs to spread the word these days.

Could you imagine promoting an event in a world without Facebook.com? Or a world without Twitter.com? Or a world with Skidde.com?

Scary stuff!

So a big thank you to Sir Tim Berners-Lee for his brainchild, and happy 25th birthday to the world wide web.

And if you have been living in the stone age and have just got yourself online, you can start promoting your event on Skiddle by visiting http://www.skiddle.com/promotion
